Choose A Well-Known Home Security Monitoring Company
Up till now the only way for monitoring a home security system was through a telephone line. Though this is still a reliable option, many households are refraining from taking new landline telephone services. Now there are different monitoring options available and the customer can understand and recognize his needs and choose the suitable option.
Protect America
Protect America is a home security monitoring company and offers three different monitoring options. The landline monitoring is the security system in the home which communicates through the telephone line. Broadband monitoring is the second option and is ideal for customers who use cell phones most of the time. The third option is the two way voice in which the command station for the security system acts as an intercom and in this way connects the household directly to the monitoring facility through the telephone line.
Other Companies
Like Protect America there are several home security monitoring companies who have made home security affordable for every family and have provided flexible solutions to meet your needs. There are different types of services available like the broadband monitoring service or the standard monitoring service.
Guardian is a very reliable home security monitoring company and even ADT offers good home security monitoring service. Actually, in order to understand comprehensive security coverage for your home, it is important to understand the concept of monitoring. When a company professionally designs and installs a system, it is only half the plan, because it is the monitoring of the system that provides the most complete security coverage.
Most Important Feature
Hence companies like Protect America, Guardian and ADT give home security coverage and they give a lot of importance to the Central Station which is the most important part of the home security monitoring company. In a case when there is an emergency in your home, your system responds to a security or fire situation. It is then automatically transferred to the Central Station of the company where action is taken. Trained dispatchers receive the call and take the necessary step to ensure your security.
Every home security monitoring company should have this integrated approach from design and installation of the system in your home to monitoring. This is how you can get burglary protection, fire protection or personal emergency protection.
Small Companies
If you take the services of a small home security monitoring company, there is a possibility that they license the services of third party home security monitoring stations. Larger companies, on the other hand, have their own central stations and they can watch over thousands of homes.
The larger companies are naturally more expensive than their smaller counterparts, because they do not outsource their services. It is advisable to take the services of a larger home security monitoring company which has its own central station, because it is a matter of security for your precious family and the home that you live in.

How To Choose The Right Security Company
There are a number of good companies out there who specialise in providing a first class security service to their customers. Whether you need a company to provide you with a security system for your home or your business, you may feel overwhelmed by the numerous options available. Check out the guide below so you know what questions to ask to receive the best system for your requirements…
How much experience does your business have?
It’s important that you feel your security is the hands of an experienced and knowledgeable professional who has plenty of industry experience. Don’t be frightened to ask how long the prospective security company has been in business for and what experience they have as you need to be confident that you can trust the company.
Will the contract be with you or a third party?
This is a very important question as some companies have third party agreements with other businesses which can make it difficult to talk to the people who are actually responsible for the work. This means that the original company you contacted will send people to your house to design and install your system who are subcontractors who will then sell the contract for the work to the original company. Once they’ve finished the job you may never see them again so it will be difficult to resolve any issues with the service provided or the system they’ve installed. Some of these subcontractors even try to sell inferior security devices to increase their profit margins because they fully intend to sell your contract on so be wary.
Who will be monitoring my alarm system?
Don’t automatically assume that the security company you choose to design and install the alarm will also be monitoring it. Some companies will provide a complete service while others will install your system but then outsource the monitoring service. You may want to consider choosing a company who provides the full service and carries out all aspects of your security. You will receive a greater level of service throughout your contract and if you decided to go with a company who outsourced the monitoring then you may never actually know who is in charge of it, where they are based and whether they are reputable.
How much will it cost?
If you are satisfied that they have the relevant experience and are a reputable company then you need to get a quote to see how much it will cost. Don’t just go with the first company you come across, it’s always wise to get at least three quotes before making a final decision. You might also want to consider asking for a written fixed quote so that you won’t receive any nasty surprises when you get the invoice. If someone you know has had a security system recently fitted then ask them which company they went with, how much it cost them and whether they were happy with the service.
Now that you know the basic questions to ask, you should be able to start an informed search for the most appropriate security company for your needs.

How Not To Choose A Security Company
Ok, I have read a lot of the articles telling you how you need a security system and how you should choose Company X because they are just the greatest company in the business, and how their only concern is your security and peace of mind, and they have the most experienced people in the world, and so on and so on. Then you find out that they are an employee of the company and realize they are just advertising for their own benefit. Either they are selling for the company they are touting or are trying to get you to click on one of the ads on the page. Some can’t use the English language well and you really never get anything out of the article.
Well, I too work for a security company, but would like to actually impart some information instead of just touting the benefits of my company. That is the reason for the title. What not to do when choosing the company that is supposed to protect you.
I would say the main thing not to do is: Do not use the companies that can afford to advertise on this page or get the top listing on Google. Click on an ad and go to the terms and conditions page, if they have one, or maybe a FAQ page. Check to see what their monthly charge is. See how long a contract you must sign. What the installation cost. What you have to do to cancel the contract. Some of their web sites don’t list this info so if you are really considering using them, call them and find out.
Most of the ads are for one company. It happens to be the largest. If you go to their terms and conditions page, you see that you can get their package for $32.99 if you order over the internet and don’t live in specific areas of the country and don’t have to have a sales rep visit your home. If you want Carbon Monoxide or Smoke Detectors or Medical Alerts you have to pay more. You are supposed to get a system installed for $99. Well, you have to pay $349 plus a $25 communication setup fee at install, then wait for them to send you a coupon, fill out the coupon and send in with a copy of your installation contract and wait a couple of months to get $250 back. And if you pay less than $600 for installation, they own the equipment. Their contracts are for at least 3 years and at the end of the 3 years, it automatically renews. The only way to get out of the contract is to contact them within the specified time period at the end of the 3 years. Miss it, and you are stuck for another 3years.
Who is protecting you from being ripped off? Not them. Many of the ads are from authorized dealers of the above company and will actually cost you more than from the company itself. Some of these companies get upwards of $700 for their effort and then the parent company gets the contract. Who do you think actually pays that? Also, don’t fall for the ads that say you can get up to x amount of free quotes on a new security system from top companies. They get paid for referrals from these companies.
Now what to do when choosing your alarm monitoring company. Go local. There are many local companies that provide the same equipment as the big national companies and at a much lower price. Many only require a year contract. Some will go month to month. Monthly fees are usually less than $25 and they don’t charge extra for smoke detectors and CO2 monitors. The smaller companies are usually more responsive to service needs and can maintain better controls on employees. It is much easier to find one or two honest employees to install equipment than it is to find 30 or 40. After all, they will know where you live, what you have in your house and how to disarm the security system.
Check with your local Chamber of Commerce and the BBB and have 2 or 3 give you their free evaluations and prices. You should be able to find a much better deal.

Compare Home Security Systems – How to Choose the Right System
There are an incredible number of options today for people that are interested in installing a home security system. As technology advances more and more options become available and the prices get lower. A good home security system can not only protect you from theft and give you peace of mind it can also save your life. But with so many options available it can be difficult to choose the system that’s right for you.
So how do you compare home security systems? How do you make sure you pick the best system to suit your needs? We’ll start by discussing some of the various options available today. Some of the various features of today’s home security systems are:
- Magnetic contacts: Just about any security system you get today it will have magnetic contacts. Magnetic contacts are used on doors and windows to alert you or your monitoring company when a door or window has been opened. In a door for example one contact will be in the door itself and the other contact will be in the doorframe. As long as these contacts stay together everything is fine. When that contact is broken the alarm is triggered.
- Motion detectors: A motion detector does exactly what you would expect it to do, it detects motion. Motion detectors can be used outdoors to turn on lights or to sound the time to notify you when someone comes onto your property. Motion detectors are also used indoors to detect an intruder. You may not have magnetic contacts on every door and window in your house and if someone is able to get inside without triggering those contacts they would set off the motion detectors once they get inside.
- Glass break sensors: Glass break sensors are a good thing to have. With magnetic contacts there is a contact in the window frame but if someone breaks the window to window frame will stay intact and may not set off the alarm. But, a glass break sensor will detect the sound of the glass breaking and set off the alarm.
- Panic buttons: A panic button can be pushed to trigger the alarm immediately if there is an intruder. Many security systems will have a delay to allow the homeowner time to go inside and turn off the alarm so it is not automatically triggered every time you enter your home. If you happen to be home and there is an intruder you can push the panic button to trigger your alarm and notify your monitoring company immediately. When the alarm is triggered the monitoring company will call your house to see if it was a false alarm or not. If you don’t answer the phone or if you answer the phone and give them the wrong password they will notify the police immediately.
- Security cameras: Security cameras, if placed in a visible location, can act as a deterrent to any would be intruders. If someone does break into your house the video can also be helpful in apprehending the criminal.
- Wireless systems: Many systems are hardwired into your houses electrical system. Installing these systems requires running wires throughout the house. A wireless system is much easier to install because there is a lot less electrical work to do. A wireless system uses radio frequencies to connect all of the various components of the security system.
Many security systems today will not only protect you against break-ins but also have smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, and other features. With these types of features, and a monitoring service, the fire department would be notified in the event of a house fire which could save your life, or save your house if no one is home to call the fire department.
This is just a brief description of some of the many options available to homeowners today. When comparing home security systems you may want to consult with a professional to help you choose your best options. Another consideration when choosing a system is your budget. You’ll want to get as much protection as you can while spending only what you can afford to spend.
A home security system is one of those things that you buy but hope that you never actually need. But it is definitely a good investment in your family’s safety. A home security system can protect you without you even realizing it. A smart criminal will always choose the path of least resistance. If your house has an alarm system and your neighbors house does not, who do you think will be victimized by any would be burglars?
